Two new six-eyed pholcid spiders belonging to the genus Khorata from Guangxi Province, China, are diagnosed, described and illustrated: Khorata ningming sp. nov. and Khorata fusui sp. nov.

On the basis of specimens found in the moss and pine litter in Erzurum and Artvin (Turkey), descriptions and illustrations of Quadroppia (Coronoquadroppia) nasalis Gordeeva, 1983 and Quadroppia (Quadroppia) maritalis Lions, 1982, the first Turkish records of the genus Quadroppia Jacot, 1939, and Quadroppia (Coronoquadroppia) michaeli turcica n. ssp., new to science are given. Zoogeographical data concerning the genus is also presented.

Morphological characters of the conspicuous tineid species Coryptilum retilellum (Walker, 1869) are described. The wing venation and male and female genitalia of the species are illustrated and described for the first time. Although the phylogenetic position of the genus Coryptilum Zeller, 1839 has not been established, it is inferred to be monophyletic with Tineovertex Moriuti, 1982 and Ischnuridia Sauber, 1902 based on male and female genital morphology. Distributional data of the species are also presented. The genus Coryptilum (C. retilellum) is recorded from South China for the first time.

The leafhopper genus Agalliopsis is reviewed for Hispaniola. Five species have been known from this island, A. balli (Baker), A. conformis Oman, A. pepino (DeLong and Wolcott), A. clitellaris (Ball) and A. acuticauta (Oman) New Combination. Thirteen new species are described, including A. lathripa, A. meiosa, A. acrita, A. treptona, A. bidigita, A. ancyra, A. dicroma, A. davidsoni, A. extenda, A. extrema, A. intera, A. longistyla and A. uncula. A key to the known species is included.

Two new species of the genus Bolivaritettix Günther, Bolivaritettix darongshanensis sp.nov. and Bolivaritettix serrifemoralis sp.nov. are described. An updated key to all known species of the genus from China is given.

During studies on the Turkish Braconidae, three species of Miracinae were recorded for the first time in Turkey: Mirax striacus sp. nov., M. rufilabris Haliday, and Centistidea sculpturator (Belokobylskij). Mirax striacus sp. nov., is described, compared with the related species, M. rufilabris Haliday.

Recently, while discussing legal issues in publishing, a 1926 paper on trials against animals written by Harry B. Weiss (New Brunswick, New Jersey, U.S.A.) and printed in Entomological News 37(9):297–299 came to my mind. Herein, Weiss' paper is reproduced in its entirety, with editions. Also, I have rendered the original references in full, with electronic links, and added remarks, the latter often inside [ ] square brackets. In this paper, two new species and a new record of eriophyoid mites on coniferous plants from China (Anhui, Fujian and Zhejiang Provinces) are described and illustrated, namely Phyllocoptes baishanzuensis sp. nov. on Abies firma Sieb, et Zucc. (Pinaceae); Stenacis thunbergii sp. nov. on Pinus thunbergii Parl. (Pinaceae); Glossilus cryptomerius Navia and Fletchtmann, 2000, new record. All species are vagrant on leaf surface; no apparent damage was found on host plants.

The male of Notiohelea pilosa Spinelli and Grogan is described and illustrated from specimens collected in association with females in the Valdivian rain forests of Nahuel Huapi National Park, in Argentinean Patagonia and from specimens collected in nearby Chile. The male of N. pilosa is readily distinguished from those of Macrurohelea species by the presence of palisade setae on tarsomeres 1–3 of the hindleg.

The present paper deals with a new species of the subgenus Lithobius (Monotarsobius) Verhoeff, 1905 (Lithobiomorpha: Lithobiidae), recently discovered in China. Lithobius (Monotarsobius) subspinipes sp. nov. was found in Hebei and Hainan Provinces. The head shield, tergites, coxosternum and some other diagnostic characters of the new species are illustrated.

Two new sibling species of the Aleiodes (Tetrasphaeropyx) from Maryland are described. Both species closely resemble A. shawi Fortier. A key is provided for the two new species that includes A. shawi. Host information is included.

Microtopography of the eggshell of eight phthirapteran species infesting different avian hosts was studied by SEM. Nature of the markings present on the egg chorion of species studied was compared to the eggshells of already described species. It was found that the markings present on the egg cases of avian lice could be used to differentiate the genera and species. The occurrence of Goniocotes jirufti and Menacanthus kalatitar on brown partridges is noted for the first time.
