Abstract

Verodes chimalapensis Delgado and Mora-Aguilar, new species, from the cloud forest of the region of Chimalapas, Oaxaca, Mexico is described and illustrated. The new species is compared with other species of the genus, and modifications to a key by Foley and Ivie for the genus are provided to include the new species. Comments on the distribution of Verodes asperatus (Champion), Verodes carinatus (Champion), Verodes exsculptus (Champion), Verodes impresus (Champion), Verodes inaequalis (Say), Verodes interruptus (Champion), and Verodes scabrosus (Solier) are included.
