Recently, while discussing legal issues in publishing, a 1926 paper on trials against animals written by Harry B. Weiss (New Brunswick, New Jersey, U.S.A.) and printed in Entomological News 37(9):297–299 came to my mind. Herein, Weiss' paper is reproduced in its entirety, with editions. Also, I have rendered the original references in full, with electronic links, and added remarks, the latter often inside [ ] square brackets.
