A bryophyte inventory was conducted at Bixby State Park and Preserve in Iowa's Paleozoic Plateau from 2011 to 2016. 779 specimens were collected representing 105 species of bryophytes, including 93 moss species and 12 liverworts. No hornworts were found. Dicranum schreberiana (Hedwig) Hilferty ex H. A. Crum & L. E. Anderson is reported new to Iowa. 68 bryophyte species were collected from algific talus slopes near cold air vents, including 16 mosses and 1 liverwort that are uncommon elsewhere at Bixby. 39 bryophyte species were collected from the small prairie remnant in the park, of which 10 are rare in other habitats at Bixby. 23 bryophyte species were collected from the white pine (Pinus strobus L.) stand, including 2 mosses and one liverwort that were not collected elsewhere in the park. Bryophytes occurring in special habitats at Bixby are not restricted to these habitats elsewhere in Iowa and North America.

Bryophytes and lichens in the Old Annapolis Road Nature Reserve were surveyed, and 252 taxa in 131 genera are reported. This includes 37 liverworts, 86 mosses, and 129 lichens and allied fungi. Five species (one lichen, two liverworts, and two mosses) have a provincial conservation status rank between S1 and S3 (critically imperilled to vulnerable). Two lichen species are new to Nova Scotia, Arthonia caudata and Micarea misella. All species are new records for the reserve. Additional species are likely to be present as not all areas and habitats were examined.

The presence on Mount Washington of the rare species Cladonia macrophylla and C. trassii are validated. In addition, several other rare arctic-alpine lichens and bryophytes are reported and/or discussed.

Lunularia cruciata (L.) Dumort. ex Lindb., the only species of the monotypic liverwort family Lunulariaceae (Lunulariales), is reported for the first time for the bryoflora of Kashmir Himalaya. It is easily recognizable by crescent-shaped gemma cups on the surface of the thalli.
