Analysis of the matching degree of water resources status and social economy-ecology-energy in the Yangtze River Economic Belt can provide technical support for the Yangtze River Economic Belt Strategy. In this paper, Lorentz curve and Gini coefficient are employed to analyze the matching degree of water resources status in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and various social economy, ecology, and energy related indicators. The result shows that water resources in the Yangtze River Economic Belt have a relatively average matching level with population, cultivated land and small livestock industry, a more reasonable matching level with urban population, effectively irrigated farmland and large livestock industry, and a relatively uneven matching level with Gross Domestic Product (GDP), wetland area, electricity consumption and hydropower generation. In general, water resources and economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt are relatively mismatched in space, which further demonstrates the necessity of coordinated development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
