China must adhere to a low-carbon development model with Chinese characteristics that focus on two aspects: the green building of family residences and a government directive for developing the overall level of the city, such as building ecological cities, low-carbon cities, and so on. Therefore, the design of green buildings in coastal areas needs to be in accordance with the characteristics of and to solve comprehensively the problems of those areas. Green building can effectively address the problems of indoor environmental protection and external environmental impact, thus solving the problems of human life and global climate change. In this study, green building design factors were analyzed, such as climate characteristics, water resource conditions, renewable energy, the geological environment, and so on. Analysis of green building design factors can make green building technology strategy suitable for coastal cities, which will point out the important concerns of green building.
