Abstract

Liu, Y. and Cui, L., 2020. Risk assessment for the logistics of shipping companies: An exploratory study. In: Gong, D.; Zhang, M., and Liu, R. (eds.), Advances in Coastal Research: Engineering, Industry, Economy, and Sustainable Development. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 106, pp. 463–467. To promote the healthy development of shipping companies and improve their logistics, based on the research of scholars around the world, this paper further improves the study on risk assessment for shipping companies. After defining and explaining the basic concepts of maritime logistics and logistics risks for shipping companies, this paper focuses on the characteristics of the risk factors affecting each link in the logistics chain to identify the risks for the logistics of shipping companies. The logistics risk factors of shipping companies are systematically analyzed, and a risk indicator system is established. This paper discusses the application of the analytic network process (ANP) in risk assessment and constructs a risk assessment model for the logistics of shipping companies. By comparing the importance of each risk factor, the relative weight of the risk factors is scientifically reflected, providing a reference for the logistics management of shipping companies and the construction of a risk evaluation model.
