In ocean engineering, the most commonly used type of foundation is the pile foundation, which requires a higher pull-out bearing capacity. The concrete expanded plate pile is the new pile type, with advantages of energy savings and environmental protection and superior pull-out bearing capacity. Therefore, pile foundations are used widely in ocean engineering. Owing to differences in construction tools, the cross-section forms of the expanded plate and the concrete expanded plate pile will be different, which will also affect the failure state of soil mass around piles and plates. This study innovatively adopts the small-scale model tests of undisturbed soil of semisection piles to study the changes in the failure state of the soil mass around the pile due to the cross-sectional forms of the expanded plate with different bearing capacity under the action of vertical tensile force, and conducts a comparative analysis using ANSYS finite element simulation to determine the influence of the change of the plate cross-sections on the pull-out capacity of the concrete expanded plate pile.
