Abstract

Ahmed, A.S.M., 2024. Wave transformation modeling of the Dead Sea. In: Phillips, M.R.; Al-Naemi, S., and Duarte, C.M. A numerical wave transformation modeling of the Dead Sea using Delft3D open source was developed to compute the spatial distribution of the extreme wave conditions in the Dead Sea from which the design wave conditions with different return periods at various locations within the Dead Sea are derived. To develop numerical wave modeling, relevant data were collected and analyzed. These data include water levels, seabed levels, wind data and wave measurements for the model calibration. In this paper, the collected data and analysis are discussed. The description of the used model, construction of the model, model calibration using the measured wave data during 2007 and 2008, and model results are addressed. The sensitivity of the brine water density was examined and assessed. The recommended design wave conditions at the different locations within the Dead Sea will be presented for future development within the Dead Sea.
