In oceanographic engineering, horizontal force is mainly the result of loads from wind, sea waves, and the like. A new type of pile, the concrete expanded-plates pile, was developed from the constant cross section concrete pile. By setting the bearing plate in different positions of the pile body, the constant cross section concrete pile is changed into a variable cross section pile, and the stress mechanism of the pile changes. Advantageous oceanographic engineering characteristics of the concrete expanded-plates pile include high bearing capacity and small settlement deformation under horizontal force. ANSYS engineering simulation and 3D design software was used to analyze stress and displacement in a model simulating different bearing plate slope angles. This research can qualitatively determine the failure characteristics of the pile and soil and the influence of bearing plate slope angles under horizontal load, and it can contribute to the improvement of the theoretical foundation of concrete expanded-plates piles, which benefits their further study and large-scale application in oceanographic engineering.
