Introduction

Leptoscyphus trapezoïdes (Mont.) L.Söderstr. is widely distributed in montane rainforests of the Neotropics from Mexico to Chile and Argentina where it is known under many names, recently mostly as Lophocolea trapezoïdes Mont. or Chiloscyphus breutelii (Gottsche) J.J.Engel et R.M.Schust. Gradstein (2021) recently synonymized Lophocolea orbigniana Nees et Mont. and Lophocolea quadridentata Spruce with Leptoscyphus trapezoïdes overlooking that the name Lophocolea orbigniana Nees et Mont. 1836 is seven years older than Lophocolea trapezoïdes Mont. 1843. We here correct that mistake and make a new combination in Leptoscyphus for the oldest name.
