Abstract

A new species of eastern Nearctic Ameletus, Ameletus janetae Kondratieff and Meyer, is described from Hardy Co., West Virginia. The ventral plate of the male penis of the new species is most similar to Ameletus tarteri Burrows but can be distinguished by a single spine of the ventral plate greatly reduced and only armed with 2–3 small denticles.
