Date of publication is one of the crucial requirements to confer availability of new names according to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) and often volume years do not match actual publication years in journals like the Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington. Also, delays in production related to the COVID pandemic have created a considerable mismatch in the volume years and publication years for the Proceedings. This work explains how the Proceedings follows the 2012 amendment of the ICZN on electronic publication and provides accurate publication dates for the issues of the Proceedings registered with ZooBank and archived on BioOne.
