The goal of this study was to contribute to the knowledge of termites present in urban areas and avocado orchards and identify the species that causes the most damage in the study sites of Huehuetlán El Grande, Puebla, Mexico. Direct and indirect capture methods with cardboard traps were used to collect insects from May 2021 to February 2022. Four species and a morphospecies of termites were identified, and they corresponded to Incisitermes marginipennis Latreille, I. minor Hagen, Heterotermes convexinotatus Snyder, Reticulitermes flavipes Kollar, and Tenuirostritermes sp. This research increased the records of species of termites in Puebla to eight, including four new records for the state. Additionally, H. convexinotatus was reported to cause severe damage to buildings.

Con el objetivo de contribuir al conocimiento de las termitas presentes en zonas urbanas y huertos de aguacate y conocer la especie que más daño ocasiona en los sitios de estudio del municipio de Huehuetlán El Grande, Puebla, se colectaron organismos durante los meses de mayo del 2021 a febrero del 2022 mediante captura directa e indirecta con trampas de cartón. Se determinaron cuatro especies y una morfoespecie correspondientes a Incisitermes marginipennis Latreille, Incisitermes minor Hagen, Heterotermes convexinotatus Snyder, Reticulitermes flavipes Kollar y Tenuirostritermes sp. Hare, aumentando los registros para Puebla a ocho, incluyendo cuatro registros nuevos para el estado, además, se reporta a la especie H. convexinotatus causando daños severos en construcciones.
