New Editor Selected.—Michael T. Murphy of Portland State University has been selected as the new Editor of The Auk. Michael is an Elective Member and Fellow of the AOU and was an Associate Editor for The Auk as well as a member of the AOU Student Research Awards Committee. His graduate work at the University of Kansas was followed by a post-doc at Indiana State University and 12 years in the Department of Biology at Hartwick College before he moved to Portland State, where he is completing a term as Head of the Department of Biology. His particular areas of research interest are in the population biology and behavioral ecology of vertebrates, the conservation biology of all taxa, island ecology, and urban ecology. Michael completed a 12-year population study of the Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus) in New York State and has followed this with an 8-year study of Eastern Kingbirds in Oregon. With his students, he is conducting studies of the population ecology of Spotted Towhees (Pipilo maculatus) in Portland.
