The purpose of this application, under Article 23.9.5 of the Code, is to conserve the name Petauristes quadripunctatus (Olivier, 1808) for a common and widespread South Asian beetle originally described as Crioceris quadripunctata, and thus a junior primary homonym of Crioceris quadripunctata Fabricius, 1801 (currently Monolepta quadripunctata).
