The trilobite genus BrachypleuraAngelin, 1854 (type species Remopleuridessexlineatus, Angelin, 1851) is a homonym of BrachypleuraGünther, 1862 applied to a species of flounder, and has priority over the latter. The holotype of the type species of Brachypleura is well preserved and was figured by Nikolaisen (1983). BrachypleuraAngelin, 1854 is not synonymous with the trilobite genus AmphitryonHawle & Corda, 1847. SculptaspisNikolaisen, 1983 is a junior subjective synonym of BrachypleuraAngelin, 1854.
