30 April 2021 Notice of New Applications to the Commission (Case 3839–3852)

The following 14 new applications have been received since the last Notice of New Applications was published in the Bulletin (volume 77: 113114, 30 December 2020). Under Article 82 of the Code, the prevailing usage of names in the applications is to be maintained until the Commission's rulings on the applications (as Opinions) have been published.

Case 3839: Helix unidentata Draparnaud, 1805 (currently Petasina unidentata; Gastropoda, Hygromiidae): proposed conservation of the specific name and proposed fixation of the type species of the genus-group name Petasina Beck, 1847. Bernhard Hausdorf.

Case 3840: Proterochersis robusta Fraas, 1913 (Testudinata, Proterochersidae): proposed conservation of the generic and specific name by conditional suppression of Chelytherium obscurum Meyer, 1863. Tomasz Szczygielski.

Case 3841: Epigraphiidae Guenée, 1845 (Lepidoptera, Gelechioidea): proposed suppression to conserve the widely used family group name Depressariidae Meyrick, 1883. Erik J. van Nieukerken, Ole Karsholt, Richard L. Brown, Maria Heikkilä, Peter Huemer, Lauri Kaila, Jean-François Landry, Houhun Li, Margarita G. Ponomarenko and Sergey Sinev.

Case 3842: Gelechioidea Stainton, 1854 (Lepidoptera): proposed conservation of the superfamily name by conditional reversal of precedence with three family group names proposed by Bruand, 1851. Erik J. van Nieukerken, Ole Karsholt, Richard L. Brown, Maria Heikkilä, Peter Huemer, Lauri Kaila, Jean-François Landry, Houhun Li, Margarita G. Ponomarenko and Sergey Sinev.

Case 3843: Myoxus melitensis Adams, 1863 (currently Leithia melitensis; Rodentia, Gliridae): proposed precedence over Myoxus miletensis Adams, 1863. Nigel T. Monaghan, Victoria L. Herridge and Jesse J. Hennekam.

Case 3844: Taenia asiatica Eom & Rim, 1993 (Cestoda, Cyclophyllidea, Taeniidae): proposed conservation of the specific name. Rusłan Sałamatin.

Case 3845: Proposed confirmation of the type species of Pseudochloritis Boettger, 1909, with the preservation of Helix incrassata Klein, 1853, a junior primary homonym of Helix incrassata Reeve, 1853 (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Helicoidea). Dietrich Kadolsky.

Case 3846: Microcentrini Deitz, 1975 (Insecta, Hemiptera, Membracidae): proposed emendation of spelling to Microcentrusini to remove homonymy with Microcentrini Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878 (Insecta, Orthoptera, Phaneropteridae). Lewis L. Deitz and Jason R. Cryan.

Case 3847: Simopithecus oswaldi Andrews, 1916 (currently Theropithecus oswaldi; Mammalia, Primates, Cercopithecidae), proposed conservation by reversal of precedence with Cynocephalus atlanticus Thomas, 1884. Eric Delson, David M. Alba, Stephen R. Frost, Dagmawit Abebe Getahun and Christopher C. Gilbert.

Case 3848: Mytilus californianus Conrad, 1837 (Mollusca, Bivalvia, Mytilidae): proposed precedence over Mytilus zonarius Lamarck, 1819 and Mytilus canalis Lamarck, 1819. Eugene V. Coan and James T. Carlton.

Case 3849: Emplectonematidae Bürger, 1904 and Emplectonema Stimpson, 1857 (Nemertea, Monostilifera): proposed conservation of current usage by reversal of precedence of the family name with respect to Eunemertidae Joubin, 1894 and designation of a new type species for the genus. Case 3850: Micruridae Ehrenberg, 1831 (Nemertea, Pilidiophora): proposed suppression for removal of homonymy with Micruridae Dunn, 1931 (Reptilia, Serpentes), as well as for conservation of prevailing usage of Lineidae McIntosh, 1874 (Nemertea, Pilidiophora). Hiroshi Kajihara and Eric N. Smith.

Case 3851: Buprestis millefolii Fabricius, 1801 (currently Anthaxia millefolii, Insecta, Coleoptera, Buprestidae): proposed conservation by suppression of senior homonym Buprestis millefolii Herbst, 1801 and Anthaxia polychloros Abeille de Perrin, 1894. Hans Mühle.

Case 3852: Syntormon Loew, 1857 (Diptera, Dolichopodidae): proposed determination of neuter gender. C. Martin Drake and Francisco Welter-Schultes.
