Abstract

The type of Eumolpus hobsoni Curtis, 1840 in Museums Victoria, Australia was located and examined. Despite the type locality placed in England, this species is in fact a North American member of Xanthonia Baly, 1863. Eumolpus hobsoni is a new junior subjective synonym of Xanthonia decemnotata (Say, 1824).
