A new species of Atrytonopsis is described from the western and central Mexican states of Michoacán, México and Sinaloa. Preliminary distributional and biological notes are provided, as well as a discussion of this new species' placement within the genus Atrytonopsis.

Phyllobrotica andrewsi sp. nov. is described from Monterey County, California, USA. Phyllobrotica luperina J. L. LeConte, 1865 and P. viridipennis viridipennis (J. L. LeConte, 1859) are reported from Oregon. Notes on the hosts and distribution for Phyllobrotica Chevrolat, 1836 species are presented. A key to the species of the western United States is presented.

Oregonanura cascadensis, a new genus and species of Paranurini from North America is described and illustrated. Taxonomic remarks are given.

A new and potentially devastating pest of oaks, Quercus spp., has been discovered in southern California. The goldspotted oak borer, Agrilus coxalis Waterhouse (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), colonizes the sapwood surface and phloem of the main stem and larger branches of at least three species of Quercus in San Diego Co., California. Larval feeding kills patches and strips of the phloem and cambium resulting in crown die back followed by mortality. In a survey of forest stand conditions at three sites in this area, 67% of the Quercus trees were found with external or internal evidence of A. coxalis attack. The literature and known distribution of A. coxalis are reviewed, and similarities in the behavior and impact of this species with other tree-killing Agrilus spp. are discussed.

The Nearctic Ammoplanus are reviewed. Eight new species are described: Ammoplanus alpinensis, A. bifidus, A. gilberti, A. molliekayi, A. pallidus, A. rhinocerus, A. sulcifrons, and A. surrufus. Males of A. quabajai Pate (1943), and A. vanyumi Pate (1943), and the female of A. tetli Pate (1943) are described. Ammoplanus sechi Pate (1943) is placed in synonymy with A. loti Pate (1943). A revised key to the species is included. Ammoplanellus and Parammoplanus are raised to generic rank and a key to the genera of Ammoplanina is included.

This paper provides a check list and a key of Chinese species of the genus Thaia Ghauri, One new species, T. anchora sp. nov., from southwestern China is added to the genus and a key to the species recorded from China is provided.
