Help us Fund the Future. The silent auction is back! Like the meeting itself, the auction will be online and it will be fabulous. Remember: the purpose of the Waterbird Society's silent auction is to raise money for students to travel to our annual meeting where they can hang out with their peers and network with people who “wrote the book” on their species. All we need is YOU. Our goal is $12,500 (roughly 5X the amount of money we usually raise). Why aim so high? The cost of travel has increased, and we need to keep up with the times by providing plenty of assistance to lower the barriers to participation. The goal is achievable. We are counting on us! We need you to start putting together items and experiences that you want to donate. Be creative and be generous. Offer a birding trip; ask for a field assistant for a day or week; offer your time-share for a holiday; search your bookshelves for classic books that you no longer use or want; donate an original painting, wood cut, or photo of yours; think about things easy to ship: jewelry, hot pads, scarves. Buyers pay shipping which we have arranged to be at minimal cost. Check the website, it will be updated soon with additional information. For general auction questions, please contact co-chairs Pat Baird (pab7@sfu.ca), Susan Elbin (susanelbin@gmail.com), or Chip Weseloh (chip.weseloh@yahoo.com).
