In the article “A New Species of Mudskipper, Periophthalmus takita (Teleostei: Gobiidae: Oxudercinae), from Australia, with a Key to the Genus” by Zeehan Jaafar and Helen K. Larson that appeared on pages 946–952 of Volume 25(9) (September, 2008), there was a typographical error in the catalog number of the lectotype of Periophthalmus cantonesis novaeguineaensis (page 948). The correct catalog number is ZMA 119.466 rather than ZMA 112.466. There were also discrepancies in the identification of two lots of specimens listed in Table 5, page 951, corrected as follows: in the ‘Identification’ column for catalog number NTM S.11114-002, “P. novaeguinaensis” should be replaced with “P. darwini”, and in the ‘Identification’ column for catalog number NTM S.15801-001, “P. murdyi” should be replaced with “paratype of P. darwini”.
