The Asociación Paleontológica Argentina (Argentine Paleontological Association, APA), is a scientific, non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) founded the 25th of November 1955. Its activities, although mainly oriented toward the national realm, are often projected beyond frontiers. Pursuing its foundational aims, the Association, through its permanent action over almost half a century, has brought together people interested in paleontology and stratigraphy all along the country, contributing to the organization and development of those disciplines, promoting the protection and curation of collections and paleontological sites in Argentine territory, encouraging their scientific study, organizing or endorsing scientific meetings, round tables and conferences on the discipline, uninterruptedly publishing since 1957 a specialized journal — Ameghiniana— the name of which honors the illustrious Argentine scholar, as well as other periodic publications like the Publicación Especial de la A.P.A. Thus, results of the research carried out by Argentine and foreign colleagues on all aspects of basic or applied Paleontology have found their way to the specialized public. The Association’s main office is located in Buenos Aires. Our broad membership from all over the world includes researchers in all aspects of Paleontology (Invertebrates, Vertebrates, Paleobotany, Micropaleontology, Ichnology, Palinology, Biostratigraphy, Paleoecology, Taphonomy, Paleobiogeography, etc.).
