The Southwestern Association of Naturalists was founded in May 1953 to promote the field study of plants and animals (living and fossil) in the southwestern United States, México, and Central America and to aid in the scientific activities of its members. The Association holds an annual meeting and publishes The Southwestern Naturalist. Membership is open to all persons interested in natural history.

The Southwestern Association of Naturalists fue fundada en mayo de 1953 para promover el estudio de campo de plantas y animales (vivos y fósiles) en el suroeste de los Estados Unidos, México y Centroamérica y para ayudar en las actividades científicas de sus miembros. La asociación tiene una reunión anual y publica The Southwestern Naturalist. La membresía está abierta a todas las personas interesadas en la historia natural.
