The Paleontological Institute, founded in 1948 at the University of Kansas, was originally established for the production and publication of the Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology. The Treatise, long recognized as an authoritative source of current knowledge in the field of invertebrate paleontology, continues to be the primary publication of the Paleontological Institute. Today the Paleontological Institute also publishes and hosts, in conjunction with the University of Kansas Libraries, Paleontological Contributions, Treatise Online, and the Digital Treatise project.
