Abstract

On December 9, 1970, the Heliothis nucleopolyhedrosis virus was granted the status of temporary exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues in or on cottonseed. This marked the first time exemption was granted for a viral insecticide. The events and general review procedures leading to the temporary exemption, as well as the type of information included in petitions submitted by industry, are presented and discussed.
