Hao, X., Indraratne, S. P. and Blackshaw, R. E. 2012. Will genetically engineered crop production affect soil carbon? Can. J. Soil Sci. 92: 841-844. We investigated the responses to soil carbon after 8 yr of genetically engineered (GE) crop production. Soil organic carbon contents were similar, but d13C levels in SOC were lower in corn-canola rotation than in monoculture corn, whether GE or conventional crops were grown. GE crop production had no effect on soil carbon content and d13C level.
