Abstract

Wu, C., 2020. Optimal route planning for windward sailing based on biobjective programming. In: Guido Aldana, P.A. and Kantamaneni, K. (eds.), Advances in Water Resources, Coastal Management, and Marine Science Technology. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 104, pp. 339–342. Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208.

Sailing on the sea is a complicated process, which is affected by the changes of natural environment, such as ocean current, wave and wind, and directly determines the advance speed of sailing on the windward sector, thus affects the choice of the best sailing route for sailing ships. Firstly, the paper puts forward the assumption of ship allocation model for double-target route, discusses the dynamic principle of sail board, analyzes the force on sail board when it is running, and obtains the optimal wind direction and sail angle through the theoretical calculation of the optimal route in the upwind segment, and analyzes many factors affecting the route selection. The experimental study shows that the sailing value varies greatly when sailing against the wind, which indicates that any change of wind direction will affect the sailing state of the sailboat.
