This study utilised Geographic Information System (GIS) and aerial images to examine the morphometric parameters of fifty-two embayed beaches in Gunungkidul regency. The morphometric parameters were categorised into five clusters based on the indentation index (a/Ro). The range of the indentation index was between 0.03 and 1.43, with 36% of the embayed beaches categorised as medium-low class. The length of the shoreline and the spacing between headlands showed a strong correlation, as indicated by the embaymentisation index, which ranged from 1.04 to 3.91. The link between the high indentation index and embaymentisation index indicates that the morphology of the embayments is similar along the Gunungkidul coast. A low bay filling index range indicates that the beach enclosed within the bay is not seeing significant sediment accumulation. There is currently no discernible local geological component that is known to be influencing the variability of the embayment's geometry.
