Abstract

In cooperation with the Texas Department of Agriculture, red imported fire ants, Solenopsis invicta Buren, were surveyed in the summers of 2013–2015. New records for red imported fire ants were for Hardeman, Jim Hogg, Knox, Menard, Sterling, Stonewall, and Sutton counties. The formicid bycatch collected during this survey yielded 67 species from 22 genera in 6 subfamilies. Four new state species records were Brachymyrmex patagonicus Mayr, Pheidole bureni Wilson, Pheidole pelor Wilson, and Solenopsis carolinensis Forel according to the most recent treatment of Texas myrmecofauna.
