Abstract

Field survey during 1995–1996 in Shanxi province, China revealed that the rates of parasitism of Aphis gossypii, Myzus persicae, Schizaaphis graminum and Lipaphis erysimi by larvae of Allothrombium ovatum averaged 42.9%, 13.1%, 5.5% and 0.6%, respectively. Among different stages of A. gossypii , alatae were parasitized by more mites (mite load 2–4) than apterae (mite load 1–2). Laboratory choice tests using Ivelev index showed that the preference of larval mites for aphid hosts decreased in the order: A. gossypii (0.2168)> M. persicae (0.1004)> S. graminum (-0.0569) > L. erysimi (-0.5033).
