Abstract

A new species of Macroptilium from seasonally dry tropical forests and woodlands (SDTFW) from Northeastern Brazil is described herein. Macroptilium albidum can be characterized by its flowers with whitish or greenish petals, a fascicle of bracts in two tufts near the base of the peduncle, floral bracts, and bracteoles equal or slightly longer than the length of the calyx. Illustrations, taxonomic comments, a distribution map, and an identification key to the species of Macroptilium from Northeastern Brazil are provided.
