Abstract

The Neotropical genus MimicoclytrinaBellamy, 2003 is revised and a new species from Venezuela, Mimicoclytrina bellamyisp. nov., is described and compared to its most closely related species. A lectotype for Acherusia tristisThomson, 1878 is designated, and the taxon is classified as a subspecies of M. piliventris (Saunders, 1869). Mimicoclytrina piliventris ssp. venezuelica (Cobos, 1980) is placed in synonymy with M. piliventris ssp. tristis (Thomson, 1878). The previously unavailable subgenus name NelsonilaCobos, 1980 is redescribed as a new subgenus Antoniolasg. nov. and a type species is designated. All species of the genus are illustrated, including type specimens. A key to all known taxa is given, together with data on distribution, biology and taxonomic position.
