1 March 2018 Waterbird Society 42nd Annual Meeting

The Waterbird Society (WbS) will hold its 42nd Annual Conference and General Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, from 19–20 August 2018. This year, our conference is being held in conjunction with, and immediately preceding, the 27th International Ornithological Congress (IOC) from 21–26 August 2018.

Registration: For both meetings, you must register through the IOC; there is no additional cost for attending the WbS meeting. Early registration ends 1 April 2018:  http://www.iocongress2018.com/registration.

Abstract submissions are now open for both meetings. As our meeting is being held as part of the IOC, abstract submission is slightly more complicated this year and information is at:  https://waterbirds.org/annual-meeting/. A table with a summary of submission and registration processes and deadlines is available at:  https://waterbirds.org/wp-content/uploads/WbS2018_AnnounceFlowChart_13Dec2017.pdf.

Oral presentations can be made at both meetings, but you have to submit a separate abstract for each.

IOC: Abstracts for oral presentations, posters, speed talks/e-posters, workshops and roundtables in the scientific program for the IOC must be submitted through the IOC by 29 March 2018. Proposals for a workshop or round-table at the IOC with a conservation or waterbirds theme are encouraged and are due by 1 April 2018. You must register before you can submit an abstract to the IOC.

WbS: Abstracts for oral presentations in the WbS scientific program should be submitted through the WbS webpage by 3 April 2018; acceptance is contingent upon registration through the IOC. Symposia: anyone wishing to propose a Symposium for the WbS meeting, please contact Dave Moore (dave.moore2@canada.ca). Symposia proposals are due by 30 March 2018.
