Kantvilas, G. 2010. Acanthothecis virgulicola, a new Tasmanian lichen. — Herzogia 23: 9–13.
Acanthothecis virgulicola from the cool temperate rainforests of Tasmania is described. The new species is characterised by the presence of stictic acid and by its almost exclusively transversely septate ascospores. It is compared briefly to other species in the genus, especially A. gyridia (Stirt.) A.W.Archer, which also occurs in Tasmania.

Es wird eine Übersetzung aller in dem im Jahre 2006 in Russisch erschienenen Buch von A. N. Titov: „Mycocaliciale Pilze der Holarktis” vorhandener Schlüssel in Deutsch und Englisch vorgelegt, ergänzt durch eine Liste aller im Buch behandelter Taxa. Zusätzlich werden Übersetzungen der Texte der neun von Titov neu beschriebenen Arten, der nomenklatorische Teil einer dort vorgeschlagenen Neukombination, sowie der Texte aller Arten mit ungeklärter systematischer Stellung und der von Titov ausgeschlossenen Taxa aufgeführt.
Braun, U. & Heuchert, B. 2010. Sporidesmiella lichenophila sp. nov. — a new lichenicolous hyphomycete. — Herzogia 23: 69–74.
Sporidesmiella lichenophila sp. nov., on thalli of Ramalina stenospora in Louisiana, USA, is described, illustrated and compared with other species of Sporidesmiella. The intricate generic affinity of the new species within the complex of hyphomycete genera with annellophores is discussed.
Dietrich, M. & Bürgi-Meyer, K. 2010. Interesting saxicolous lichens at Tossen near Schimbrigbad in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch (Canton of Lucerne, Central Switzerland). — Herzogia 23: 75–84.
The description of the interesting lichen flora of the rock habitat at Tossen complements the knowledge of saxicolous species in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch. At an altitude of 1480 m 61 lichen species were observed inhabiting the rock. Caloplaca dichroa, C. pusilla and Fulgensia klementii are mentioned for the first time from Switzerland. Acrocordia conoidea, Diplotomma alboatrum, Fulgensia bracteata subsp. deformis, Lecanora agardhiana, Porina byssophila, Synalissa symphorea and Thelidium minimum are new to the canton of Lucerne. Further species, until now only rarely registered in Switzerland, are mentioned specially, among them Lecanora reuteri, Naetrocymbe saxicola and Squamarina lamarckii. The documented lichen flora is very similar to comparable places at Mount Pilatus, from where the occurrence of Dacampia hookeri, Lecanora admontensis and Leucocarpia biatorella is mentioned for the first time from the canton of Lucerne.
Schiefelbein, U., de Bruyn, U., Dolnik, C., Stolley, G. & Neumann, P. 2010. New or interesting records of lichen-forming and lichenicolous fungi from northern Germany. — Herzogia 23: 85–91.
Records of 19 lichen-forming ascomycetes and two lichenicolous fungi from northern Germany are presented. Bacidia scopulicola and Caloplaca verruculifera are new to Germany; Collemopsidium foveolatum and Verrucaria striatula are reported from Germany for the first time after more than 50 years, as is Dactylosporum tegularum after more than 100 years. Caloplaca albolutescens is recorded from Lower Saxony for the first time, whereas Bacidia friesiana has been rediscovered after more than 80 years. Agonimia vouauxii, Arthonia phaeobaea, Bacidina inundata, Dactylospora tegularum, and Verrucaria elaeina are new to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Agonimia vouauxii, Belonia incarnata, and Collema bachmanianum are new to Schleswig-Holstein. Arthonia phaeobaea and Ramalina siliquosa have been rediscovered in Schleswig-Holstein after more than 50 years.

Records of 57 species of lichenicolous fungi and lichens from Iceland, especially from the Northwest Fjords are presented. Agonimia globulifera, Arthonia phaeophysciae, Cercidospora cladoniicola, C. decolorella, C. parva, Clauzadeomyces verrucosus, Dacampia rufescentis, Echinothecium cladoniae, Endococcus macrosporus, E. verrucisporus, Intralichen lichenicola, Lichenoconium usneae, Merismatium decolorans, Phaeosporobolus usneae, Protothelenella santessonii, Scutula cladoniicola, Skyttea elachistophora, Sphaerellothecium cladoniae, S. cladoniicola, S. minutum, 5. stereocaulorum, Stigmidium gyrophorarum, Taeniolella diederichiana, and Zwackhiomyces martinatianus are new for Iceland. The muscicolous fungi Bryochiton microscopicus and Julella macrospora are also new for Iceland. The new species Lichenopeltella uncialicola is described.
Kukwa, M., Czarnota, P. & Perz, P. 2010. New or interesting records of lichenicolous fungi from Poland VIII. -Herzogia 23: 111–119.
Records of 46 lichenicolous fungi are presented. Taeniolella rolfii is reported as new to Central Europe, and Arthonia digitatae and Trichonectria rubefaciens new to Poland. Roselliniella stereocaulorum is reported from the second European locality. Taeniolella trapeliopseos is discovered for the first time in the Carpathians. Phaeosporobolus alpinus is found for the first time in Polish lowland, and Chaenothecopsis savonica is reported as new to Polish Carpathians. Thelocarpon impresellum and T. intermediellum are found as lichenicolous for the first time. The first Polish lichenicolous record of Chaenothecopsis viridireagens is also reported. Lecanora flavoleprosa is a new host for Lichenoconium lecanorae and Trapeliopsis pseudogranulosa for Taeniolella trapeliopseos.
Lüth, M. 2010. Ecology and phytosociology of Orthotrichum rogeri. — Herzogia 23: 121–149.
The epiphytic moss species Orthotrichum rogeri is endemic for Europe, therefore listed in Appendix II of the FFH directive. The species can be found in several regions of Europe, but is rare or very rare in all localities. In Southern Black Forest, O. rogeri has one of its centres of distribution, its ecology and phytosociology was studied there. Based on systematic mapping of 150 occurrences of that species and related site descriptions, conclusions were drawn about several site characteristics. Investigated parameters were topographical localisation in the landscape, exposure of microsites, position of the moss colonies on the carrier tree, and species and d.b.h. (Diameter at breast height) of the carrier trees. For 62 trees the pH-value of the bark was measured, and for 66 occurrences phytosociological relevés were recorded. Based on that, the phytosociology of O. rogeri was analysed. With respect to the site, it appears that cold air drainage and therefore cool nights are essential for the occurrence of that moss species.

From the wine-growing district Saale-Unstrut in southern part of Saxony Anhalt and the neighbouring parts of Thuringia and Lower Saxony the basiphytic association Didymodonto vinealis-Tortuletum muralis is described. It is an saxicolous, photophytic, xerophytic, moderately basiphytic community with an urbany character. Syntaxonomy, sociological structure (with 2 vegetation tables), ecological behaviour and distribution of this community are described.
Marstaller, R. 2010. The bryophyte community Pottietum heimii - sociology, ecology and distribution in Central Germany. - Herzogia 23: 159–170.
In Thuringia and neighbouring districts the epigaeic, halophytic bryophyte community Pottietum heimii are investigated. The association occurs on basic, permanent wet saline soil in the area of natural salt springs, salt works and dumps of the salt mines. Syntaxonomy, sociology (with 2 vegetation tables), ecological behaviour and distribution of this community are described.
Müller, F. 2010. Additions to the moss flora of Sicily. — Herzogia 23: 171–172.
Seligeria calycina is reported for the first time with certainty for Italy from Sicily. Fissidens rivularis is reported as new for Sicily. Antitrichia californica, known only from an earlier record, was rediscovered.
