In contribution to the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory, a survey of the subfamily Phasiinae (Diptera: Tachinidae) was conducted in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Phasiines are brightly colored endoparasitoid flies that primarily attack true bugs (Heteroptera) and can be important pollinators in meadow habitats. Collections were made from August to October over a two-year period at two sites: Purchase Knob in Haywood Co., North Carolina in 2013 and Cades Cove in Blount Co., Tennessee in 2014. Phasiines were collected by sweep net and Malaise traps (baited with host pheromone lures and unbaited). Species identifications were made using updated morphological keys, comparisons to identified specimens in collections, and sequence comparisons to known species using the nuclear coding gene MCS. In total, 221 specimens representing 27 tachinid species were collected. Of these, 21 species are newly recorded from the GSMNP, five are new records for Tennessee, and four are new records for North Carolina. All 12 eastern Nearctic phasiine genera were represented. Phasiines of the genus Gymnoclytia were shown to be exceptionally attracted to pheromones of the brown stink bug (Euschistus spp.).

Platyparadonus, new genus is described for two new species, Platyparadonus marleyi, new species from the Greater Antilles (Jamaica, Cuba, St. John), and Platyparadonus beckeri, new species from coastal Colombia. The genus morphology is described and illustrated in detail. The genus is compared to similar genera within the subfamily Negastriinae, and it is integrated into an existing generic key. A key to species of the new genus is provided. For each new species, detailed discussions about the collectors, their field notes, and habitat are provided.

A new species, Endaphis gracilistylus Gagné & Etienne, is described and illustrated. It is an internal parasitoid of an undescribed species of Mitrapsylla (Psyllidae) found feeding on Machaerium lunatum (L.f.) Ducke in Guadeloupe, F.W.I. The genus Endaphis Kieffer is redescribed and each of the ten previously described species is reviewed for recognition characters. A key is presented to nine species; two species remain too poorly known for recognition. Endopsylla Meijere is considered a junior synonym of Endaphis.

A new species of Macrosiphum is described from southern Mexico City, Mexico based on apterous and alate viviparous females and alate males. Macrosiphum tonantzin, n. sp., was found living year-round on Pittosporum undulatum (Pittosporaceae), a plant native to Australia and grown in Mexico as an ornamental. Relationships of this species to other Macrosiphum are discussed, as well as hypotheses about its possible geographic origin and life cycle.

The Eurasian viburnum leaf beetle, Pyrrhalta viburni (Paykull, 1799), can injure and sometimes kill wild and cultivated Viburnum spp. in North America. A survey conducted in Connecticut in 2009–2010 showed that this invasive beetle was established mainly in northern Connecticut. A second two-year survey was initiated in 2016 because P. viburni was appearing south of its previous known range. The second survey revealed that P. viburni had spread throughout the state, being present at 247 of 248 (99.6%) sites sampled. Thus, susceptible species of viburnum are now at risk of injury throughout Connecticut.

Recent efforts to discover insect biological control agents of the Brazilian peppertree, Schinus terebinthifolius (Anacardiaceae), include a new species belonging to a new genus, Spes schinella Metz, new genus, new species. We propose a hypothesis for placement of the new species among known Gelechiinae using the barcoding region of COI and targeted taxon sampling in a tree parsimony analysis, and discuss additional diagnostic morphological features for tribal placement. The new species is diagnosed, described, and illustrated.

Two hundred and ninety-three records for 20 families of Coleoptera (excluding Carabidae) preyed upon by 36 species (in 18 genera) of robber flies (Diptera: Asilidae) in eastern New Mexico and adjacent west Texas are listed. Among genera of asilid predators, individuals of Heteropogon Loew, 1847 (4 spp.) were responsible for 54.6% of all Coleoptera prey records, followed by Efferia Coquillett, 1893 (7 spp.) with 10.2% and Diogmites Loew, 1866 (3 spp.) with 9.2%. The three genera of asilids with the highest percentage of beetle prey among all insect and spider prey collected were Ospriocerus Loew, 1866 (41% of 44 records), Heteropogon Loew, 1847 (23% of 814 records) and Proctacanthus Macquart, 1838 (10% of 440 records). Four families of beetles accounted for 72% of prey records: 33% were Chrysomelidae (comprising 16 species), 18% Scarabaeidae (15 species), 11% Tenebrionidae (4 species), and 10% Melyridae (6 species). Data are presented on the prey composition for each of the 18 asilid genera documented in this paper. Comments are made on the top three asilid genera and specific beetle families that were relatively well represented among the prey records; photographs of localities mentioned in the paper are provided.
