The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) will postpone elections for new Commissioners, initially planned to be held in conjunction with the 23^rd International Congress of Zoology and 26^th International Congress of Entomology. Both congresses have been delayed from their original dates of 19–24 July 2020 due to the global COVID-19 outbreak.

The deferred ICZN general session will be scheduled during the 23^rd International Congress of Zoology to be held from 21 to 26 November 2021 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Commission has thus extended its nomination deadline from 1 May 2020 to 1 September 2021.
